Central was organized in the small, rural community of Van Wert more than 130 years ago. In an effort to show its gratitude and appreciation for the support of the community, Central established a scholarship program which is intended to benefit primarily the residents of the Van Wert, Ohio, community and the surrounding area.

In addition, Central annually makes substantial contributions to various charities and institutions which benefit the Van Wert, Ohio community. The public may make contributions to Central's Educational and Charitable Foundation, with the understanding that these contributions will be used to support specific charities and institutions in the Van Wert, Ohio, community.
